Sustainable Development Ambassador Programme

Sustainable Development Ambassador Programme

Objectives

To groom a group of ambassadors to:

  • enhance their understanding of the concept of sustainable development (SD)
  • serve as models for their peers in promoting SD messages, help raise the SD awareness in their community, and be capable of assisting schools in organising activities to promote SD

Major Role

To participate and assist schools in the planning and implementation of activities related to the promotion of SD.

Activities for Ambassadors

The Environment and Ecology Bureau (EEB) regularly invites SD Ambassadors to participate in activities through schools. In the past year, we organised a number of field trips for the ambassadors, including visits to the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark to explore Hong Kong’s unique geological heritage and natural ecology through hands-on exploration. We also hosted visits to the “kNOw Carbon House” to deepen their understanding of low-carbon living and sustainable development through interactive exhibitions and thematic workshops, as well as guided tours at Ocean Park for close-up insights into the habits of giant pandas and to recognise Hong Kong’s conservation efforts.

  1. attended at least two SD-related education / training activities; and
  2. assisted schools in organising SD-related activities.

Schools can also nominate the best three outstanding ambassadors as “SD Ambassador Leaders” based on schools’ assessments of their capacity and contribution in promoting SD concepts and practices.
